What impact does it have on the switching power supply? I believe that many customers have mentioned this question in their minds, but they seem to have not found the answer. Let us answer it in an easy-to-understand way.

Everyone knows that adjustable DC power supplies mainly include linear power supplies and switching power supplies. These two power supplies are usually called DC current. Usually the input is AC, and the output is converted DC. However, the two power supplies are in structure and use The occasions are different. Let's make a simple comparison of their main differences. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

One, the main advantages of linear power supply

1: No high-frequency noise interference (usually used in environments sensitive to high-frequency signals)

2: Lower ripple voltage

3: The circuit structure is simple, the reliability is relatively high, and it is easy to maintain.

2. The main disadvantages of linear power supply

1: Compared with the switching power supply, in the case of the same power level, the volume and weight of the linear power supply are at least greater than or equal to the volume and weight of 5 switching power supplies. The volume is bulky and difficult to transport and move.

2: The conversion efficiency is low, the conversion efficiency of a general linear power supply is only about 60%

3: The voltage input range is limited.

In fact, efficiency is just like people. For example: Just like workers working in a factory, with the same wages, some people do more work, some people do less, then there is a difference in efficiency. Too much is definitely more efficient than doing less. So the power supply is the same. Let’s compare two 100V100A switching power supplies with a linear power supply. The same 380V input power supply, the output is also 100V100A. On the surface, there is no difference, but in terms of conversion efficiency, we Just use the formula to calculate it. Ignore the power factor here. First calculate the electrical energy consumed by a 100V100A linear power supply in 10 hours. The output power=100V*100A=10000W, and the efficiency is calculated at 70%. , The power consumed per hour is 10000W/70%=14285W/H, we then calculate the electric energy consumed in 10 hours according to this power loss: 14285W*10H=142850WH, converted into electric energy: 142850/1000=142.85 Spend.

Then calculate the power loss of a 100V100A switching power supply within 10 hours, output power=100V*100A=10000W, and the efficiency is calculated according to 85%.

10000W/85%=11764W/H, then calculate for 10 hours, 11764*10=117640W, 117640W/1000=117.64 degrees, well, the result comes out, two power supplies work for 10 hours at the same time, the electricity cost of the linear power supply is higher than that of the switching power supply The electricity bill is higher: 142.85-117.64=25.21 degrees. According to the current industrial minimum charge of 1 yuan per kilowatt hour, the electricity bill is 25 yuan higher for every 10 hours of work, so what about 100 hours and 1,000 hours? What if there are 10 such power supplies? Therefore, I believe everyone has found the answer, so in the case of non-special requirements, we generally do not recommend customers to use linear power supplies. This is the main reason.
